Self storage: How it works
We have storage units ranging from 100 cubic feet – roughly the size of an estate car boot with the seats down – to 1,600 cubic feet, which is roughly enough space for the contents of a 4-bedroomed house.
Arranging self storage
Get a quote and check availability
You can use our prices as a guide but we know it can be tricky to work out exactly how much space you’ll need. To save you guessing, contact us for a quote and we can tell you what size unit you’re likely to need and whether we have availability. You’re welcome to visit us and look at the different sized cubicles.
Simple pricing and payments
Unlike many other storage companies, we charge a single monthly fee – there are no hidden extras like admin or padlock fees. We don’t charge a deposit and there’s no minimum stay.
You can pay by Direct Debit (definitely the easiest) but we also take cash, cheque and debit card payments.
Packing your belongings
You’ll need to pack your items carefully. Put smaller things in sturdy boxes. Make sure everything is clean and dry before packing. We can supply boxes, bubble wrap and packaging tape if you need them – please call us for more details.
What can and can’t go into storage?
We don’t allow storage of:
- petrol or inflammable materials
- radioactive material
- perishable foods
- explosive substances
- valuable items, for example, jewellery, money, deeds or collectibles.
Help to move your things
If you need help with removals or van hire, we trust and recommend these local companies:
- Removals: Low Budget Removals
- Van hire: Bognor Motors Van Hire
- House clearance: South Downs Clearance
Drop off and unloading
We’ll arrange an appointment to unlock your unit so you can drop off your items. Once the license and paperwork is completed, this could be as soon as the same day.
You can drive your vehicle straight into the building for hassle-free unloading and protection from the weather.
We have space for 2 cars or a Luton van.
We also have a goods lift that goes from the parking bay to each of the storage floors, and trolleys available for moving your things easily and safely.
Safety and security
Our premises are fully alarmed.
All our units are wooden and housed safely inside the building.
Access to your unit is always accompanied and each unit is unlocked by a member of staff so you can rest assured that no one can access your unit without permission.
Insurance
We don’t automatically insure your belongings. If you would like to insure them, we can add your possessions under our block insurance policy.
Insurance costs
10% of your monthly rent gives you £1000 cover per 100 cubic ft.
For example:
- For a 700 cubic foot unit, you’ll get £7000 of cover.
- For a 1600 cubic foot unit, you’ll get £16,000 of cover.
If you need more cover, please ask us for a personal quote. You’ll need to tell us the value of your belongings, and let us know if their value changes during your storage period.
Access to your things
If you need to access your things, please call us to arrange a time, giving us at least 24 hours notice. One of our team will unlock your unit for you from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
We can also arrange an appointment outside these hours for a small fee.
Giving notice and collecting your things
To end your storage, please give us at least 7 days’ notice.
You can collect your items sooner, but we will still charge the full 7-day notice period.
Any outstanding rent must be paid before you can collect your items.
As with drop off, we’ll make an appointment for you so we can unlock your unit, and you can use our inside parking bay, goods lift and trolleys to collect your items.
